Quick guide for Clipstick users

Use your Clipstick in 4 steps.

Set the quickdraw, feed the rope, extend the pole, and clip the first bolt with control before you start climbing.

Recommended sequence

Set the quickdraw before extending.

Keep the Clipstick close to your body, make sure the carabiner faces the bolt correctly, and extend only when everything is in place.

The Clipstick helps you clip the first bolt. It does not replace partner checks, sound judgment, or standard climbing safety practices.

1
Step 1: place the sling into the Clipstick

Place quickdraw

Place the quickdraw into the purple head and leave the top carabiner open, seated cleanly in the guide.

2
Step 2: feed the rope through the sling

Thread the rope

Feed the rope through the lower carabiner before lifting the setup. Make sure it is not crossed or twisted.

3
Step 3: extend the Clipstick toward the bolt

Extend

Extend the telescopic sections smoothly and guide the quickdraw toward the bolt while keeping the carabiner aligned.

4
Step 4: clip the first bolt with the Clipstick

Clip

Seat the carabiner on the bolt and pull the pole slightly downward to release the head. Check that the quickdraw is clipped correctly.

Before climbing

Quick check.

Run through these checks every time. They are simple, but they prevent the most common mistakes when setting the first bolt.

Carabiner aligned

The gate should face the bolt cleanly, without odd sideways pressure.

Clean rope path

Make sure the rope runs through the lower carabiner without twists.

Smooth movement

Do not force the head. If something does not seat naturally, lower the Clipstick and reposition it.

Not PPE

This is an auxiliary tool. Climbing still requires experience, partner checks, and certified gear.
