Quick user guide

R2 stands for RopeReset: a new Climb3D accessory for rope care.

R2 Instructions

Use your R2 in 4 steps.

Insert the rope, guide it through the inner channel, make it exit through the opposite hole and pull slowly until the full rope has passed through.

R2 (RopeReset) helps reduce coils caused by accumulated twist in climbing ropes. Use it to prepare and organize the rope before or after climbing, always free and unloaded.

Not PPE. Not a belay device. Do not use under load.

Recommended sequence

Prepare the rope before starting.

Work with the rope free, unloaded and in a clean area. Leave enough space so the rope can pass straight through the R2, without jerks or forced angles.

Always use the R2 as an auxiliary rope-care accessory, never as part of the safety system.

IN and OUT openings on R2 for inserting the rope

1. Insert the rope

Insert the end of the rope through the opening marked IN on the back of R2.

Push carefully until the rope advances through the inner channel. If it is hard to insert, move the rope slightly while pushing, but do not force the part.

Rope routed through the front channel of R2

2. Guide through the central channel

Bring the rope toward the central slot of the R2.

The rope should follow the internal path naturally, without crossing, pinching or bending too much.

3. Make the rope exit

Keep pushing until the rope exits through the opening marked OUT.

Before pulling the entire rope, check that the path is correct and that the rope enters and exits aligned.

4. Pull slowly

Hold the R2 with one hand or secure it with a cord so it does not rotate freely.

Pull the rope slowly, steadily and without sharp jerks until it has fully passed through.

If the rope is very twisted, you can repeat the process a second time.

Before use

Quick check.

Run these checks every time. They are simple, but help avoid unnecessary wear and use errors.

Unloaded rope

Use it only with the rope free, without tension and without people or loads connected.

Clean rope

Avoid passing the rope if it has mud, sand, small stones or dirt that could damage the inner channel or the rope itself.

Smooth movement

Do not force the accessory. If the rope does not move naturally, remove it and place it again.

Aligned entry

Keep the rope as straight as possible at the entry and exit. Very tight angles can create more friction and wear.

Safety notes

Important

The R2 is an auxiliary tool for rope care and organization.

  • Not PPE.
  • Not a belay device.
  • Not part of the safety chain.
  • Do not use it to secure people or loads.
  • Do not use it while climbing.
  • Do not use it with the rope under tension.
  • Never hang from the accessory.
  • Do not use it with knots, splices or damaged rope sections.
  • Always inspect the rope before and after use.
  • Use only with textile climbing ropes compatible with this version.

When not to use it

Do not use the R2 if you see any damage.

  • Cracks.
  • Deformations.
  • Sharp edges.
  • Excessive wear in the holes.
  • Visible damage in the inner channel.
  • Major color changes from heat or sun exposure.
  • Any defect that could rub or damage the rope.

If the accessory is damaged, replace it.

Compatibility

Textile climbing ropes.

Compatible with textile climbing ropes of 9–11 mm. 3D printed in PLA; height 61 mm and weight approximately 60 g.

Do not use it with ropes outside the recommended range. A rope that is too thin may not work correctly, and a rope that is too thick may create too much friction or damage the accessory.

Use tips

  • Use it after climbing or before storing/preparing the rope.
  • If the rope is very twisted, run a second pass.
  • Hold the accessory to prevent it from rotating freely.
  • Store it away from extreme heat and prolonged sun exposure.
  • Clean it with cold water if dust, soil or dirt gets into the channels.
  • Let it dry completely before storing it.
